Adirondack Style Lake House
Good design, like good art, is not restricted to a particular style for Long. She created rustic luxury for a lakeside
guesthouse in Sussex County, NJ two hours drive from Long's home base in time for the "summer season" necessitated a
coordinated plan between the clients and Long. It entailed a strategic timeline and efficiency in selecting furniture,
fabrics and finding quality accessories, which coordinated and contributed to the Adirondack style selected by the clients.
With today’s technology, on-site meetings could be kept to a minimum, saving time and expenses for the clients.
The lakeside setting, enhanced by natural landscaping and use of stone and reclaimed pine floors, log stair and beam building
elements provided the perfect "bones" for the rustic style and handcrafted accessories and antique pieces the clients had already
begun to collect. Long incorporated clean lines and natural fibers in earth tones inside to seamlessly blend the artistic elements
with the open vistas, always visible through unencumbered large windows and doors.
